Leave it to Dreamers is an electro-acoustic quartet based in San Francisco. This project fuses a traditional line up of drums, bass and guitar with modern, hard-hitting electronic beats, samples and other more obscure instrumentation such as alto-flute, hammer dulcimer, and ethnic percussion. Crossing musical, cultural and geographical boundaries, these four individuals create a unique sound, which is both intelligent and danceable.

Wicked Mercies are a soul band from San Francisco. The line-up features vocals that embody the classic sound of all great female –fronted soul acts through out time. The band is made up of players with roots in soul, R&B, funk and punk. The band takes a stripped down, un-pretentious approach to the music, grabbing a hold of the grooves and driving them into the sound. Wicked Mercies have received local and international airplay including critical acclaim from the Craig Charles Funk and Soul Show BBC6 music London.

SHOWNUFF was created with one intention in mind, “Get the music to the people.” There is a spring-wealth of great live music in this city, which can go overlooked if people have to wait till very late in the evening and pay a cover. Los Compas is a band of seasoned pros playing the hardest hitting salsa in San Francisco. Although many musicians and singers have passed through its ranks, Los Compas is by no means a “pick up” band. Most members have 10-15 years of association with the group. For 5 years, the band’s now legendary run at the waterfront’s Pier 23 made that bar “the place to be” on Friday nights. Whether an intimate 4 piece setting or a nightclub sized 10 piece band, Los Compas consistently functions as a crisp, energetic, tight-knit unit.

As an 11-piece band, the one question people ask us is why such a long name and why such a big band? The idea of the band name and the group was conceived by Sean aka “Stymie” Sharp, after initially being recruited by the original Stymie group in the City of Compton (Los Angeles County). Having relocated to San Francisco and witnessing his new band’ s electrifying performances, Sean realized that the band needed it’s own identity and added the tag name ‘The Pimp Jones Luv Orchestra’ (PJLO). Stymie & The PJLO are currently working on their 3rd cd, ‘The Funkativity Joint’. These long time Bay Area favorites wish to soon notify the world at large of their arrival as serious contenders in the music world.

At shows, I always get approached by fans of the band who say they hear a lot of Frank Zappa in our music and I usually respond, “Oh snap that’s cool“.

But, If you really listen, you’ll hear the influences of Carl Sterling, Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. That’s the God Honest Truth !!! I personally have found inspiration from a myriad of sources – Desmond Decker (may he rest in peace), Elo, Frank Zappa, Joni Mitchell, Mavis Staples, George Clinton’s Parliament Funkadelic, Eddie Hazel, Erykah Badu, Prince, Fishbone, of course Red Foxx, Richard Pryor, Dave Chappelle, etc..

But I have also been inspired by the films of Robert Crumb, Terri Zwigoff , “Crumb”, Daniel Claves and Paul Thomas. Cartoons back in the 40’s were so imaginative both musically and visually. Artist back in the day went all out. They didn’t have computers or yuppie skills to fall back on – No safety net ! I like to think when I perform it’s without a net. Either I do it or I go SPLAT !!!!!

London Street is bringing live instrumentation and creative songwriting back to Soul and R&B. You won’t find redundant ballads or robotic beats in their music. London Street is an actual band that writes songs from the heart. A refreshing take on Neo-soul… These ladies are an amazingly tight and sweet unit.

Shani leads from the rear, riding and maintaining a tight, strong groove.  Originally from Los Angeles, she has been playing music her entire life. Starting out on clarinet at age seven, she’s played a variety of instruments before finding her calling on the drums. Most influenced by old school R&B, and the legendary artist Prince, Shani produces a powerful foundation, which allows London Street to build upon with ease.

When it comes to the bass, Jenn Curiel has a style all her own. Smooth and rhythmic, she never skips a beat. Growing up in Los Angeles, she studied the baritone horn for several years before deciding to switch to the bass guitar. Her musical roots stem from bass legend Verdeen White and his groundbreaking group Earth, Wind and Fire. Similar to Verdeen, Jenn designs unique and distinctive bass lines that compliment the melody.

Lesley Grant brings sweet and sultry vocals to this great ensemble. Growing up in Georgia, she was raised on contemporary gospel music. Singing in church functions with her family from age 6, her voice developed amongst a community of spirit-filled singers. She learned how the power of harmony, and the strength of melody can charm a listener. Her influences are imbedded in soul music and unique lyricists, and range from the late, great Donny Hathaway to Ani DiFranco.

Forming in San Francisco eight years ago, London Street has enjoyed many successes. They have performed in such highly esteemed San Francisco venues as the Great American Music Hall, Slim’s, The Elbo Room, Rasselas Jazz Club, and many others. In addition, they have captivated large crowds at great festivals like The Haight Street Fair, Bay To Breakers, SF Pride Festival, and High Sierra Music Festival and the Slow Food Music Festival. They have toured the West Coast from Washington to San Diego, and internationally with reknowned acts such as india.arie, Angie Stone, Eric Sardinas , Sistas in the Pit, and the Kofy Brown Band at the Blue Balls Festival in Lucern, Switzerland.  Most recently, London Street took their soulful sounds to the island of Maui in Hawaii.

Locally, they’ve opened for great acts such as John Legend and Ozomatli. London Street is also building their soulful reputation by playing the Poster Room Lounge inside the famous Fillmore Auditorium while major acts like Erykah Badu, Musiq Soulchild, Raphael Saadiq, and the Roots, take the main stage. London Street has received critical acclaim with the release of their debut album, “Life Through Lyric and Melody.”

The girls are currently in the studio working on their follow-up album, “FutuReality.” London Street is taking it to the next level with this album. Sure to be a hit! London Street is building a reputation based on a solid, energetic, and heartfelt live performance. Their fierce and inspiring original songs draw their influences from seventies R&B and Funk, and are able to lift the spirits of any audience. DIEGO’S UMBRELLA (Ska, Flamenco, Rock)
As San Francisco’s ambassadors of gypsy rock, Diego’s Umbrella captures California’s cultural multiplicity with enthusiasm, humor and decadence.  These urban gringo mariachis have performed more than 800 live shows, cloaked in elaborate homemade outfits. The band’s unforgettable performances have visually and aurally captivated diverse audiences around the globe. Influenced heavily by flamenco, klezmer, and Latin music, Diego’s Umbrella has introduced the world to a new kind of popular music, with sounds reminiscent of Gogol Bordello, Flogging Molly and The Clash.

Diego’s Umbrella debuted in 2001 with its first album, Songs for the Farmers. With the addition of Kevin Blair (bass), Jason Kleinberg (violin, vocals, accordion), Jake Wood (drums, percussion) and Ben Quist (lead vocals, electric guitar, percussion), Diego’s Umbrella has been packing venues throughout the Western U.S. and Europe with its heavy-hitting live shows and filling airwaves in the U.S. and Europe with lively tunes.

The band released Kung Fu Palace in 2006 and Viva la Juerga in 2007. Within a few months Juerga ranked #129 on the CMJ Top 200 Chart. This spring Diego’s Umbrella will release the much-anticipated record, Double Panther.

Several DU songs were also featured in the X-Dance-award-winning documentary Sofia, the Quiksilver/Roxy surf DVD Shimmer, as well as CBS’ Elimination Station. Diego’s Umbrella also performs three songs in the Lionsgate comedy Still Waiting (2009).

Night Howl is an original band formed on the island of Martha’s Vineyard in the great state of Massachusetts. Neil Howell is a singer/songwriter and guitarist with influences from everything from delta blues to 1960’s rock guitar. Will Costa is on drums, and loves to see people dancing to his beat. Anthony Esposito on bass is drunk of funk and R&B riffs from bygone era’s in American music. Each player is an experienced songwriter, which shines through in their musical connection.
