ANN FRIEDMAN — Former executive editor of GOOD and co-founder of crowd-funded magazine TOMORROW, Ann Friedman is a freelance writer whose work has appeared in the New Yorker, New York Magazine, the New Republic, the Hairpin, CJR and dozens of other notable publications.

MARTINA CASTRO — Managing editor of KALW News 91.7FM and co-founder and senior producer of Radio Ambulante, a new podcast which aims to tell the compelling and diverse stories of Latin America in Spanish. Martina’s work has been featured on NPR’s Morning Edition and All Things Considered and recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists in Northern California and the National Association of Public Radio News Directors.

KATY NEWTON — Multi-media journalist, Katy Newtown began reporting and developing interactive stories for the Oakland Tribune Newspaper, and then for the Los Angeles Times. As a 2012 Knight Fellow at Stanford, she created Kon*Fab. Her work has been the recipient of several awards, including a 2010 Emmy nomination, two consecutive Webby Awards, Overseas Press Club Award, Scripps Howard National Journalism Award, Sigma Delta Chi Award, ONA Knight Foundation Award for Public Service.

MIMI CHAKAROVA — For the past decade, photographer and filmmaker Mimi Chakarova has covered global issues examining conflict, corruption and the sex trade. Her film “The Price of Sex,” a feature-length documentary on trafficking and corruption, premiered in 2011. Chakarova was awarded the Nestor Almendros Award for courage in filmmaking at the Human Rights Watch Film Festival in New York. She was also the winner of the prestigious Daniel Pearl Award for Outstanding International Investigative Reporting, and a 2012 Dart Awards Finalist for Excellence in Coverage of Trauma.

And, in typical HGF-style, there will be a DJ on the ones and twos.
