Why Remember Haiti?
The Haitian earthquake caused one of the largest human disasters in recent memory. Unfortunately, it has quickly fallen from the public consciousness as the news cycle moves on to ‘newer’ things. Remember Haiti is about keeping the Haitian people in our hearts and minds and contributing to a rebuilding effort that will likely take years. As the most pressing need shifts from relief to rebuilding, “Remember Haiti” seeks to raise $10,000, which will cover reconstruction costs for one classroom in a Port-au-Prince school. Please join us on April 22nd and be a part of the rebuilding effort!100% of all monies raised through the event will be donated to Architecture for Humanity.
Architecture for Humanity (http://architectureforhumanity.org) is a non-profit, 501c3 organization leading rebuilding efforts in Haiti. By tapping a network of over 40,000 professionals willing to donate their time and expertise to help those who would not otherwise be able to afford their services, AFH brings design, construction, and development services to areas in critical need. AFH teams played a major role in the rebuilding efforts after the Asian Tsunami of 2004 and in New Orleans during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
