FEATURED ARTISTS
Consisting of a provocative collection of new works.
Serena Cole
Creates beautifully haunting imagery incorporating the lost gazes of fashionistas frozen in a moment of
fantastical escapism. Within these portraits, the constructs of high art and fashion are re-examined in an
elaborate deception between a broad sense of idealized beauty synonymous with contemporary pop culture and a desire for the sublime. The work hypothesizes that the result of a life spent in the pursuance of vanity ultimately leads to isolation, sadness and alienation. Her investigation into various forms of conceptual and stylized beauty through colored pencil, gold leaf and watercolor prompt the viewer to be captivated by the eyes in each picture as if examining oneself in the mirror.
Tahiti Pehrson
Quietly obsesses over meticulous detail in the construction of his three dimensional paper structures. Originally enrolled at the San Francisco Art Institute for painting, Pehrson has painstakingly rendered his compositions and palettes to the bare skeletal remains. Graffiti, stencils and classical paining all maintain their influence on Tahiti’s work, but the resulting constructs are something entirely unique. This structure contains personal narrative quilted with romanticism, built on an insatiable desire to formulate a semblance of things. Pehrson, after a recent bout with yellow fever, has produced a body of work heavily laden with images from another consciousness, yet still addresses his appreciation of Californianism and all things he finds heartwarming.
